CANWARN is a program of trained weather spotters which assist Environment Canada by reporting severe weather conditions to allow for timely public warnings. Depending on the severity of the weather conditions, one of three CANWARN alerts will be issued. When a CANWARN net has been activated, stations should stand by.
CANWARN NET - CONDITION - GREEN
When a CANWARN Condition GREEN is activated, only CANWARN
participants should check in. All other stations should
please stand by. The repeater will be open for routine
traffic unless weather conditions change.
CANWARN NET - CONDITION - YELLOW
When a CANWARN Condition YELLOW is activated, only CANWARN
participants should check in. All other stations should
please stand by. The repeater is not open for routine
traffic. This is a closed directed CANWARN net at
condition YELLOW. Only reports of hail, damaging winds,
wall clouds, funnel clouds, tornadoes or unusual weather
events will be accepted.
CANWARN NET - CONDITION - RED
When a CANWARN Condition RED is activated, only CANWARN
participants should check in. All other stations should
please stand by. The repeater is not open for routine
traffic. This is a closed directed CANWARN net at
condition RED. Only reports of confirmed tornadoes, funnel
clouds, or wall coulds will be accepted. Stations with
lower priority reports are asked to stand by until called
for.
