WINNIPEG ARES Participation in Skywarn Recognition Day 2004

Again this year, members of Winnipeg ARES participated in the Annual SKYWARN Recognition Day.
SKYWARN Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the US National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).
It celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARN radio operators make to the National Weather Service.

The event SRD ran for 24 hours beginning at 0000 UTC on December 4, 2004 with over 100 US National Weather Service based stations from SKYWARN involved along with our ONE lonely Environment Canada station :VE4WWO.

During the SKYWARN event, operators operate from NWS offices and contact other radio operators across the world. As the SKYWARN program and our Canadian CANWARN program are very similar in nature, it has been a "natural" that we participate.
Following are a few photos of some of the memebers participating from VE4WWO during SKYWARN Recognition Day 2004.
